Chapter 9—Leo

W hen I woke the next morning, still nestled against Isaac’s chest, I felt as though something between us had shifted. I had allowed myself to trust him, just for one night, and he hadn’t betrayed my trust. I had been nervous last night, but now I felt warm and safe and loved.

Maybe I was allowed to like him without it meaning something was wrong with me.

As I nuzzled closer into Isaac’s embrace, I nudged against his morning wood, which sent blood rushing to my cock.

Heat flooded my face. Isaac was still asleep, so I slid from bed, grabbed my glasses from the bedside table, and darted to the bathroom.

Inside, I studied myself in the mirror. I was flushed with embarrassment, but also happier than I’d been in a long time. It was Christmas Eve, and I finally had someone to spend the holiday with.

Also, Isaac was so good-looking I didn’t know if I could keep my hands off him. Seeing his vulnerability, his uncertainty—it gave him a softness I hadn’t expected.

But I had to take things slowly. I was such a romantic that I tended to get myself hurt, and if I went all-in with Isaac, I was scared of what that might come to.

I combed my fingers through my hair, taking deep breaths, until my cock finally softened. Then I ventured out to find Isaac sitting up in bed, his hair mussed in a disarmingly sexy way.

“Morning,” he said with a crooked smile.

I smiled right back. “Morning.”

“Leo? How d’you feel about joining me for breakfast? Like a date, I mean.”

“As long as we’re not snowed in.”

He laughed. “You’re a dick.”

When I padded to the window, I found the snow mounded halfway to the sill. A few flakes were still falling, but the sky was brighter than yesterday.

Soon we were bundled up—Isaac looking very kissable in a wool hat and scarf—and heading into town. The wind assaulted us as soon as we pushed open the door, and I nearly lost my balance on the icy doorstep.

Isaac grabbed my hand to keep me upright and didn’t let go as we trudged downhill through the knee-deep snow.

“Did you have somewhere in mind?” I asked Isaac, who seemed to know exactly where he was going.

“Yeah. I found this place yesterday. C’mon.”

He led me around the corner to a cute little bakery with Christmas decorations crowding the windows. Inside, an orchestral version of “Carol of the Bells” was playing, and the place smelled wonderfully of fresh-baked pastries.

Isaac dropped my hand at the door and wove his way through the tables to the counter.

“Two hot chocolates, please, and one of each of those.”

Shaking my head, I left him to it and went to claim a table right beside the Christmas tree, with its fake presents and white strings of fairy lights. Soon Isaac joined me with a mountain of pastries.

“Do you honestly think we can eat all these?” I asked with a grin.

“No. But we’ll need provisions for tomorrow morning.”

We settled in to eat, Isaac moaning in happiness as he started on a cinnamon bun.
